Questions to Ask Wedding Venues

Looking for a wedding venue for one of the biggest days of your life can feel extremely overwhelming and surreal at the same time. It’s so important when you’re taking a tour of a potential wedding venue that you ask the right questions. That way your wedding day can be as perfect as possible for you! Of course, there are the basics like pricing, date availability, deposit amount, and the cancellation policy. There are quite a few crucial questions that are often overlooked. Trust me, you do not want to forget to ask these as they can make or break your final decision.

Outside Vendors:

Ask the venue if they have a list of approved or recommended vendors. Also, ask if they require you to use their vendor list and if you are allowed to bring outside vendors in. If so, ask if the outside vendors will be bound to any certain restrictions or not. This goes for caterers, bakers, photographers, videographers, and any other vendor that will be a big part of your day.

Capacity:

Don’t forget to ask what the maximum number of people allowed is because we definitely wouldn’t want your favorite aunt or uncle to have to miss out on your magical day due to capacity issues.

Restrictions:

Take into consideration if there are any decoration restrictions. You’re trying to make your vision come to life and wouldn’t want to be held back by a limitation. Be sure to ask if there is a curfew or a time when the music needs to stop. If you’re planning on celebrating all night long, you’d want a venue that would be able to accommodate that for you. This includes asking about setup and cleanup time.

Photography:

It’s no secret that in capturing your wedding day memories, photography is a key element that goes into planning your big day. Believe it or not, your wedding venue impacts your moments captured an incredible amount. Ask if there are certain areas that the brides and grooms in the past have taken their wedding photos at.

The Actual Wedding Day:

The biggest question of all when taking a tour of a venue is one that you actually need to ask yourself is if you could actually envision yourself getting married there. At the end of the day, this is your big day and you get to decide how you want to make your vision come to life. If you can’t imagine yourself tying the knot at a particular venue, then it might be time to look around.

Overall, it is essential to trust your gut and make sure that your wedding venue has everything that you and your partner need to make your dream come true. It’s true that a lot of planning goes into curating a wedding, but it’s also true that you get to make your wedding day whatever you want it to be. If one venue doesn’t provide what you’re looking for, don't give up hope. There are countless stunning wedding venues and you’ll find the perfect venue in no time.
